Join Obton as a PPA Origination Manager and drive our Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for solar PV assets across dynamic European markets. In this role, you’ll lead PPA structuring and negotiations, collaborate with our solar and battery teams on innovative energy solutions, and develop market strategies to maximize revenue. With at least 5 years in energy markets, a track record of PPA success, and fluency in Danish and English, you'll be key in building partnerships, navigating complex regulations, and spearheading the energy transition.
Obton is seeking a skilled PPA Origination Manager to join our Markets and Power Portfolio Management team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assessing Obton’s market outlook .
Key Responsibilities:
PPA origination: lead the origination of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for solar PV assets across Europe, targeting corporate and utility buyers, and support the local teams from other market areas or jurisdictions where Obton is active
- PPA structuring & contract support: manage and support the entire PPA process, from structuring through contract negotiation and execution
- Work closely with the solar PV greenfield team to find bankable energy sales solutions, also using structured energy sales products
- Work closely with the battery team to identify and structure innovative and bankable solutions for long-term battery revenue hedging
- Tendering, optimization & hedging: participate in tenders and develop market hedging strategies to optimize the revenue from energy sales for the greenfield pipeline or for existing assets
- Environmental certificates: manage the sale of Guarantees of Origin and other relevant energy certificates, ensuring revenue optimization
- Market updates: work closely with the market analysis team and with local greenfield and asset management team to exchange relevant information about market view and dynamics
- Stakeholder engagement: build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including traders, corporates, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in energy markets, particularly in the origination and sale of PPAs and structured energy products
- Proven track record of successful PPA origination and closure with corporate and utility buyers, especially in Denmark or other European markets
- Experience working across multiple European energy markets with a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and the ability to maximize cross-border PPA opportunities
- Skills and knowledge:
- Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to develop, negotiate, and close complex energy sales agreements, including PPAs and structured energy products
- Deep understanding of PPA commercial structures, market dynamics, energy regulation affecting PPAs, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation strategies to maximize value
- Familiarity with environmental certificates (such as GoOs)
- Education:
- University degree in economics, engineering, finance, or a related field
- Languages:
- Fluency in Danish and English is required.
- Personal qualifications:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
